Coto Donana

Drove up to Sanlucar de Barameda which is only just over an hour away from where we are staying, and there you can get a boat across the river to the reserve.

We saw good numbers of deer, both Fallow and Red, there were a few sightings of Wild Boar and there were some horses. Birds are more difficult to spot from a fairly fast moving vehicle but I did see some.

Grey Heron, Osprey, Hoopoe, Audoins gull, Yellow legged gull, Oystercatcher, Sanderling, and Cormorant.

It was a good trip though somewhat bumpy and my back is now playing up.Coto Donana4

The trip is excellent and a good way of seeing the reserve as much of it is restricted access, however for photography it is frustrating as the transport only stops briefly if there is something to see so its snap it and hope. The web site for more info and bookings is www.vistadonana.com

Had a good meal in one of the fish restaurants opposite where the boat leaves from.

Here are a selection of photos.
